The world is still in the Covid-19 Pandemic and countries around the world is suffering hard in terms of economy. India had started Lockdown in March end and still in some area small lockdown is ordered. On 31st of Aug RBI published data for Q1 April to June GDP data and in RBI reports India’s GDP is contracted by 23.9% in Q1. The biggest drop was seen in the last 24 years of the Healthy Indian Economy.
The same day, BusinessToday.in has published an article on the decreased GDP of India and Tried to compare GDP with G7 and other important countries. A beautiful analysis is done by BT and in the graph mentioned G7 Countries GDP. as per comparison India’s GDP for Q1 is worst and coming in last. (See the image mentioned below)
Now Surjit Bhalla Executive Director , IMF for India Bangladesh,Bhutan,and Sri Lanka twitter about BusinessToday article and ask to BT that why they are not doing journalism in right way.ans claimed that US GDP for Q1 is contracted by 32.9% which is more than india’s 23.9% and which was retweeted by BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya
Now we have done a fact check for this claim of US and Indian GDP for Q1.
In first step we went to BusinessToday’s article where these statements mentioned and found that in full article india’s GDp for Q1 is -23.9% and US GDP for Q1 is -9.1%. Image used by Surjit Bhalla was totally different than published image by BT. Because as per Surjit Bhalla’s Tweet US is on 3rd and as per BT US is on 2nd no. with -9.1%

Also for the detailed check, we have visited CEIC website where all the country’s GDP data available and used by BT in their article and found CEIC has same data matched with BT and as per CEIC, The USA GDP is decreased by -9.1% in Q1 2020 and estimated by -33.9% in Q2
Now in Our fact check test, we found Business Today report is totally matched with International DATA and BJP IT cell Head Amit Malviya,IT Cell Members and Surjit Bhalla is tweeting fake and false data with Citizens.
This step by them is moving citizens to another ideology
